Wade Buys a Chicago Townhouse-Sam Smith
Opinion:Let’s not get too excited when a millionaire athlete buys a crib in his hometown. They buy homes like I do new era hats. While I would like to think Wade will be putting on a Bulls uniform, his situation with the Miami Heat will have to define itself. Much like Lebron James, Wade wants a winning product around him. The upcoming season is crucial, and I’m sure Pat Riley is banking on Michael Beasley becoming a legit number two option to keep Wade pleased.
Powe to sign with Cleveland-Jessica Camerato/WEEI
Opinion:The deal is pending upon the second portion of a physical, but it looks like Powe will be part of the James gang. Because of a torn ACL, Powe probably won’t make his Cavalier debut until mid February. That’s a while from now, but Powe could be a nice boost of fresh legs off the bench. If Powe can still healthy after his return, then I like to deal for the Cavaliers. We all saw Leon Powe make a name for himself off of the Celtic bench. He’s what I like to call a “Championship role-player”. He brings a low post threat and some toughness to a Cavalier team that’s in need of some different dimensions.
Cavs still considering Joe Smith-Brian Windhorst/Cleveland Plain Dealer
Opinion:Not surprising because of A) Powe’s recovery time, and B) J.J. Hickson recovering from back surgery. So the Cavs need some big bodies in the early going of the season. We all know Smith is a nice veteran presence, who is at his best his best when shooting jumpers in pick-and-pop’s.
