Boo the flu/Celebrating MJ and his era
September 11th, 2009 | by samia |Yeah, so I’ve been stuck in bed for the last day. I had to use a sick day, because I look and feel like strait up doggy dung.
Boo the flu. And boo the person who decides to spread his or her germs to random people. I’m telling you, i’m going to stop shaking hands, and make friends with Howie Mandel.
So anyways, I had to get up and at least do something that would be considered remotely productive. You can only sit in bed for so long. I figured I’d come on here and blog about MJ and his induction into the Hall of Fame.
First things first, if you haven’t already, head over to read Sam Smith’s accounts of Jordan throughout the years, with fellow players and coaches chiming in on the greatest of #23. It really goes further and defines the word comprehensive, so if your looking to read on Jordan and avoid the 9/11 programming, here’s your chance.
Besides from the thought of getting older, it’s cool to think back of the greatness of Michael Jordan. I consider myself lucky to be just old enough to understand what I’m watching when it came to the years of Jordan and Pippen.

Some people were lucky enough to see Babe Ruth in his prime, and we were the ones who got to see the greatest basketball player of all time. No ‘arguably’ in that sentence, I speak confident, as do others. What I also think about is the era in which Jordan played in while in his prime.
The NBA, although I still love it, is not what it used to be in the early to late 90’s. From the overall quality of play, to the intensity frequently boiling over. Between David Stern being on image detail, and the infusion of raw high school products who can’t hit a wide open 20 footer, the NBA has taken a step back.
That’s why I look back on Jordan’s Bulls and the era so happily. It was the glory days as a basketball fan. What tickles my fancy even further is that we get to look forward to a sophomore season from Derrick Rose. We have a player that any other fan would kill for.
It’s probably time to realize we’ve had good luck with players, and to hope it continues with Rose’s development.
