Three team trade? Nocioni heading to Boston? Dalembert to Sacramento?
November 17th, 2009 | by samia |For a sizable amount of time now, the Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers have had some discussions over a swap of Kenny Thomas for Samuel Dalembert. What started as a deal that no one could give a damn about, has quickly evolved into a hot rumor as the Boston Celtics have jumped in, and could realistically be adding Andres Nocioni to their bench.
Rumor may not be the right word. The Celtics have been enamored with Nocioni’s toughness for some time now, closely monitoring his situation once his trade to Sacramento was complete.

It doesn’t take a dummy to figure out the interest, Nocioni is a ballsy player, who’s two-way ability renders itself perfectly into what the Celtics like to do.
Here’s the rough draft of the trade, player for player:
Boston receives:Andres Nocioni
Nocioni has lots of money coming, 2 guaranteed years at roughly 13.5 mill total. Don’t be surprised if Boston pulls out because of financial concerns, but this deal clearly puts a cherry with whip cream back on that bench. James Posey’s role can finally be replaced.
Philadelphia receives:Kenny Thomas, Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine
Clearly not a fan of Seton Hall’s own Sammy Dalembert, but I don’t blame them, he never evolved into the player they thought he could be. My buddies from the Philly area were comparing this kid to Dikembe Mutombo back in the day. I laughed, because Mutombo’s consistency and longevity were often overlooked and taken for granted.
Thomas, Allen, and Scalabrine are all on expiring contracts. You see the objective here from Ed Stefanski’s standpoint. Now, what do to with Elton Brand?
Sacramento receives:Samuel Dalembert, J.R. Giddens.
The Kings want to put a defensive guy next to Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson. Dalembert is more of a cheaper back-up plan, considering Okafor gets paid like a franchise cornerstone. (laughable I know)
