Jazz house Bulls on Thanksgiving/Where’s my remote?

November 27th, 2009 | by samia |

The Bulls were the Thanksgiving main course in Salt Lake City last night. The Jazz showed up, grabbed forks and knives, then proceeded to feast on the Bulls like they had a chocolaty middle. The final score would be 105-86.

The squad looked so bad that it almost ruined my Thanksgiving night.  Granted, i’d be a moron if I let it ruin the best holiday out there, but I quickly changed the channel in the 4th quarter.

Here’s where it gets ironic. I tune the cable box to one of my many Showtime channels. There is this movie on with Jeff Bridges, and it reminded of the Bulls a little bit. The title of the film is “The Amateurs”, which I thought summed the Bulls up pretty well.

Yes, I just compared the Bulls to a gaggle of fools making an adult film. Only difference being, the gaggle of fools actually succeeded in their goal. The Bulls? Not so much.

I did take down some notes. Why? Very good question…

-The Jazz got whatever they wanted offensively. Back door lobs, poor transition defense, I even on one occasion saw Ronnie Brewer do a strait line to the rim for a dunk off of a offensive rebound. There wasn’t one black jersey in sight.

-Utah had a ungodly 62 points in the paint. The paint war was crucial, but then again, the Bulls don’t have anybody to compete with Boozer right now.

-25 points scored off of 16 assists in the first half. The Jazz were more aggressive, didn’t settle, and executed their offense. When the Jazz are right, from a team perspective, their sets are beautiful to watch.

This was the first game in a while where the defense was absolutely smoked. Defensively, I like what we have, especially if you figure Tyrus Thomas into the mix. Offensively, however, concerns weigh heavy. Anytime the Bulls ran the pick&roll it was a lot of times concluded by an outside shot. In short, we’re falling right into the opposition’s game plan.
