Linkabulls:Salmons bad for Derrick Rose, What about Wafer?

I’m sure all Bulls fans are saying “Tell me something I don’t know“. I had my worries last year about Salmons. I know all was well last year up until game seven of the first round playoff series, but the skill set of John Salmons does not blend itself to a team lead by Derrick Rose. When Salmons is efficient from the perimeter, it serves as a mask for reality.
The biggest issue, I think, is each player’s comfort zone. Rose needs to play in a high tempo game to be most effective, and the complete opposite could be said for John Salmons. Historically, Salmons is more effective in a half court game.
You can get more out of Salmons defensively then you would Ben Gordon. But make no mistake, he’s not a all world defender, and I don’t think he’s good enough on the defensive end to make everybody forgot how nauseous the Bulls can make you in the half court set. The Bulls are last or close to last in every major offensive category, and lot’s has to do with the disappointing play of Salmons.
Von Wafer is available..
But has attitude issues anywhere he goes. The difference now is Wafer’s improvement. The man can hit open shots. Wafer is coming off playing for Olympiakos, where he only suited up for three of the seven games this season. As I said, Wafer has a rep around the league for being difficult, and this is what the Olympiakos coach Panagiotis Giannakis said of Wafer:
“He had a playing philosophy that didn’t allow him to make the adjustments needed,” He said of Wafer, “If somebody is not eager to try to change himself, then it is better for him and the club to part ways.”
Ringing endorsement, I know.
The Bulls can’t do much of anything this season for reasons of protecting the cap, but if Wafer is open to signing for the rest of the season at a discount, then it’s like we have him on a free trial of sorts. See how the experiment works, on and off the court, and make a decision after this year. The bottom line is Wafer’s shooting prowess is badly needed.
