Linkabulls:Bulls win, Cavs looking at trade options

December 20th, 2009 | by samia |

Chicago Bulls 101, Atlanta Hawks 98-Peachtree Hoops (Hawks blog recap)

Basketball at the UC took a strange turn last night….The Bulls actually made shots.

VDN’s strategy on Joe Johnson was interesting to say the least. Guard him 1 on 1, let him go for 40, yet get lucky by the rest of the Hawks not being able to shoot their way out of a paper bag. Talk about playing with fire…

This game should have been a loss. You don’t take chances with dynamic scorers such as Joe Johnson, who can not only put points on the board but distribute the basketball. The Mike Bibby’s and Marvin Williams‘ of the world can usually keep the defense honest, but they didn’t, and Josh Smith showed once again why you shouldn’t pass him the ball outside of 20 feet.

It’s a win, but I want to see the consistency and continuity on the offensive end.

Cavs looking to deal?-Hoopsworld

The Cleveland Plain dealer says Danny Ferry has had discussions with Don Nelson about Anthony Randolph. Randolph, easily the most intriguing prospect, would thrive in Cleveland, but Ferry has only offered Hickson in return which won’t get it done.

(Just imagine Randolph as a Cavalier, his athleticism at his size along with his shot blocking would give the Cavaliers another dimension.)

Antawn Jamison and Troy Murphy are other players discussed, and if you see the trend, all players desired have unique skills for their size. Troy Murphy can shoot, that’s not denied, but he’s so questionable everywhere else that I’d take a pass. But you can see Cleveland may be going for the ‘Orlando light‘ on the offensive end. Put a decent shooting four-man at the top of the 3 point line and give Shaq more floor spacing. Then you can take a look at Jamison who I think could fit in perfectly with that scheme, but considering he plays for the Wizards I find it highly unlikely a deal could be struck between the two teams.

The Cavaliers right now are so far ahead of us that I can’t even wrap my head around what would happen if they made another deal to get better. I give Cleveland a lot of crap for not being what I call a “championship team”, but the fact remains that having Lebron alone on an island is still a better position then we’re in.
