Tyrus Thomas Cursed at Del Negro

February 7th, 2010 | by samia |

Tyrus Thomas, you are one enigma of a basketball player. If you put this much emotion into your game, you wouldn’t be arguing with your coach to get more minutes. Tyrus was said to be heard by most of his teammates when he was in the coach’s office with V.D.N, reportedly arguing and cursing at the second year head coach.

If Tyrus should be mad, maybe it should be at Taj Gibson for being the surprise of the year, in turn making Thomas look bad by taking his minutes. Gibson rebounds better, plays better all around defense, and is more of an offensive threat. Gibson is the only one standing in the way of Tyrus, god forbid if he were to take the challenge.

What’s Tyrus using as his argument to get more playing time? What is he going to bring to the table that distinguishes himself from Taj Gibson? (Email me if you have a legitimate answer, I dare you). Vinny Del Negro would go on to indirectly state his reasons for not giving Thomas playing time:

“Minutes are up to players,” Del Negro said. “I’m going to play the guys who give us the best chance to win, execute the game plan, play hard and get after it defensively and rebound. There’s accountability. That just doesn’t go for Tyrus. That goes for all the players.”

A typical cliche response from a coach, but the truth remains that Thomas has been the one regularly benched.

Trade Status

This piece of news coming out in the media will only make it more difficult to package Tyrus out in a trade. They’ve made an effort to package Thomas in any possible deal Kirk Hinrich would be included in, but rival team’s are not having it. The Bulls are said to be willing to renounce his rights when he’s a restricted free agent in June.

Do what you gotta do, I’ll hold the door wide open for Tyrus to take a walk. It’s a position I’m sure all Bulls fans would fight over…

The #4 overall pick everybody, Tyrus Thomas!

I think Tyrus Thomas is a great player I just hope we don’t lose another spectacular player because to me it seems like every time we lose a player they become a superstar and we regret it like Sevfolosha he has become great for OKC THUNDERS so I don’t really know what to say

In truth Tyrus Thomas is not a great player. Does he have moments where he can ‘wow’ you? Sure, that’s why he was picked so high out of LSU.

I think the proof is in the pudding because of Derrick Rose. Tyrus has the unique opportunity to play with a point guard who will make him better, and it hasn’t worked out that way.

I’ve seen Thomas as a guy who could be a Kenyon Martin-like player in a best case scenario, but that looks unlikely now
